Exhibition's

In this Exhibition Space.

What does one say about exhibitions? To begin with the whole situation -when you start- is like walking through an anxiety cloud. The pressure to complete by a deadline, have enough for a decent show, fit in all the other things that need doing and hope to find the right and enough wrapping just incase someone is brave enough to buy. If I'm pushed to decide which bits I like the best; it's the knowing that it's all in place in the first case, that I have done the best I can for the now AND then the putting the last box in the motor at the Finish. It's a big sigh of relief and relaxation from the tensions that you never knew you were carrying. I'm probably not the best at Exhibiting but it seems it has to be done and hopefully in the right places and at the right times.

The photo's below are from 2022; My first as a solo exhibitor. The Gallery -part of a traditional, historical building in Kirkcudbright South West Scotland booked me and mine in for a May Exhibition. Boxes, many and varied . The comments were lovely and one or two even went to new homes. It was a first outing and a lot was learned about setting up a show of work in a new place, what could have been done differently-if not better- and being reminded to breathe by friends on regular occasions. There was also at the end of the showing the 'what comes next' question.

There are photos from the Exhibition at the Tolbooth Gallery Kirkcudbright in the Spring of 2022.

What came next ;was the finishing off of the wall hanging for the Quarrymen's Arts Center in the Village for it's hanging in place on the back wall of the Art's Center in late Spring- photo's on the designated page somewhere on the menu. Also a new very active and a bit unusual companion. I was in error when I thought puppies were cute bundles of fun, in this case cute bundles of own agenda. BUT, one way or another we survived -he because he worked hard to remain undaunted, me because I refused to fold under pressure- but it was a tight run thing. We seem to be singing from the same Hymn book now if not the same page.

Photo's from the Exhibition at the Tolbooth Gallery 2024 'Windows, Reflections and Echoes of the Galloway Estuary and Hills.

Back to the Tolbooth in August 2024 for a completely different collection of works. For this solo there were Pictures -in one guise or another.

Working on the Wall hanging for the Quarrymen's Arts Center taught me such a lot about the collection and laying of fabric's to make pictures. With a certain amount of technical confidence and no idea what or where the new images would come from or be I set off with fabric I had left over from the commission and began.
